We will investigate the alignment of educational technology and information technology in schools at depth, helping participants identify areas to improve their skills in both. Technology is now more important to the success of school programs than ever. In addition to being core to teaching and learning there is scarcely an aspect of school operations that technology does not intersect with. Yet, technology in schools is not simply about wires and devices anymore. We now see an intersection of computers, strategy, and teaching and learning.

For these programs to be successful across all of these domains, schools need competent Educational Technology leaders who have skills in technology, pedagogy, and leadership.

In this course, we will discuss the domains of school educational technology and the team structure needed to fill those domains. We’ll discuss leadership styles and the professional development needed to fill gaps in experience and skillsets.

This session is the kickoff to a several month long training on educational technology leadership. Participants will be encourage to attend a series of follow-up sessions at the conference around key elements of Educational Technology Leadership. Then following the conference participants will have the option to join a cohort of online book study to talk about salient issues and build skills in educational technology, information technology, and leadership.
